LEARN MOREThe Future of Hybrid Work: A Perspective from Logitech Australia
Education
The future of hybrid work has been fiercely debated in the post-pandemic era. Business leaders from around the world, including Australia, have weighed in on what they believe the future of work should look like, leading to a wide spectrum of opposing opinions. With a recent KPMG survey predicting a full return to office by 2026, as the Managing Director of Logitech Australia, I felt it was time to share my perspective on this evolving narrative.
I have long been an advocate for a flexible work culture, leading by example with a team of staff working effectively in a hybrid model across Australia and New Zealand. At Logitech, we’ve embraced flexibility in our work environment long before the pandemic, and it continues to serve us well. This approach has created and fostered a diverse, engaged and happy workforce that collaborates globally every day. It’s this spirit of innovation that drives us to redefine the modern workplace—what we like to call ‘The New Logic of Work’.
The emotional and social impact of hybrid work is equally important. For Logitech, we’ve found that the hybrid model promotes work-life balance, reduces commuting time, and uplifts employee well-being. The flexible work culture fosters inclusivity and diversity, taking into consideration the needs of employees with caregiving responsibilities.
The hybrid working model aligns with Logitech’s sustainability goals, helping to reduce our carbon emissions associated with unnecessary commuting and office energy consumption. Enabling remote work or flexible schedules contributes to a greener future, and embracing digital tools and video conferencing technology reduces the need for business travel.
This being said, we understand that what works for us may not work for everyone. As exemplified by the wide spectrum of opinions constantly cycling the news feed, the hybrid working model is far from a one-size-fits-all solution. The key question businesses need to address is how productive their current workplace model is and how it aligns with their broader business strategy, including financial, social, and sustainability goals.
When it comes to revamping a corporation’s work structure, the emphasis should be on productivity, not time. It’s essential to understand where your team performs best—be it in the office, at home, or a hybrid of the two. Every company will have a different answer, and the focus should be on what is the most effective model to deliver the best output.
Fortunately, we’re not alone in this journey. Logitech, alongside industry leaders like Microsoft and Zoom, is at the forefront, enabling businesses to optimise their operations regardless of their setup. The leaps and bounds in video conferencing technology have opened doors to flexibility, increased productivity, improved culture, and sustainability. These benefits can result in considerable savings for corporations, and a successful tech set-up can often be less than their annual stationary expenses.
Unlike the pandemic when remote work was the only option, businesses now have a choice. It’s a thrilling time to watch how the global workplace will evolve. At Logitech, we’re committed to supporting businesses as they navigate their way towards the most effective and productive work model.
